So, you are traveling to Jamaica! You are going to have the time of your life! I have been to Jamaica every year for the last six years and I’m already booked for next year. Being a seasoned traveler to Jamaica I can offer you a great list I’ve put together over the years—just to make sure we don’t forget anything we’re going to need.

Jamaica Packing List

Passport and 2 copies of passport info (one to leave at home, one to bring with you.)

Sunscreen with a high SPF, and lots of it.

Solarcaine or aloe (can buy there but expensive)

Bug spray

Hand sanitizer (and a couple small ones that hang from your purse) Note: an 8 oz size is a good size to bring but pack it in your checked bag because it’s over the limit on liquid ounces.

Small flashlight for walking the street or the beach at night

Bathing suits. Good idea to bring at least 2.

Beach towel

Flip flops, walking shoes, AND water shoes.

Soft cooler

Koozies for drinks

Booze for checked bags only (most liquor stores sell full-sized bottles that are plastic for traveling)

Small sewing kit

Small first aid kit: bandaids, tweezers, nail clippers, Neosporin, an antihistamine for sunburn, Tylenol, Tums

Batteries for whatever you use batteries in

Tote/beach bag

Floatie (these are weighty in luggage)

Electronics: cell, tablet, vapes

Chargers for electronics

Money. Nothing higher than a $20. Bring lots of 10s, 5s, 1s. (not many places have change for anything higher than a $20 USD)

Credit card for emergency (notify bank a week in advance that you are leaving your country)

Medications (Check to see if they need to be refrigerated. Some meds go bad at higher temps. If so you’ll want to book a room with a fridge.)

Insulated cup or mug for beach

A few hats, bandanas, etc

Sunglasses

At least 1 long sleeve shirt or sweatshirt

At least 1 pair of long pants (gets chilly at night sometimes)

Snacks that travel well

Hair ties, scrunchies

Add an app on your phone that lets you call and text for free i.e. Viber

Ziplock baggies

Waterproof phone bag

Pen for immigration forms on the plane

Emergency contact list

Waterproof speaker for your music

Tissues, Wipes

Golf clubs, golf shoes

Toiletries: travel size shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, mouthwash, powder, moisturizer, brush, shaver, soap/body wash, chapstick, dental floss, deodorant, face cleanser

Pack enough clothes for each day. Summer tops, shorts, underwear, bras, socks, jammies, a sweater, a pair of comfy pants, sundresses, belt, etc… you know what you wear.

Keys to get back into your house, lol

HAPPY TRAVELS, MON!

  1. Thanks for the info…at 85 I’m making my first trip to Jamaica for a granddaughter’s wedding. Since it’s only a 5 day trip, I can cut down on quantities or sizes, but now I know what items are a necessity . (it’s not until April, but I have started to pack already !)
